1) What do you think are the most successful parts of (The Hepworth's) visual identity?
2) Did you find that designing for a cultural institution required a particular approach? Are there particular considerations?
3) Do you think it is important for arts and cultural institutions to have a strong visual identity? and why?
4) Seth Godin, one of Americas most successful marketers described a brand as "the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer's decision to choose one product or service over another". Taking this into account, to what extent do you believe the visual identity of a cultural institution can play in choosing to visit?
5) When designing a new identity, should you try and make it more modern/current, maybe attracting a different base of consumers with the risk of putting older consumers off visiting or should you stick to hertiage?
Mock Email:
Hi Apfel!
I'm a final year graphic design student at Leeds Art University currently doing my dissertation on the benefits establishing a strong visual identity can have within Cultural Organisations? I was wondering if you had a spare 5 minutes whether you could answer a few questions of mine relating to the topic.
Any insight or opinions would be really appreciated!
Thank you so much!
